If you’ve got access to a boat on 30A, Freeport or Destin, you already know the water is where the day belongs. But here’s the thing — and I can say this as a big time beach lover –– some of the best days happen when you skip the Gulf and step onto a boat. 30A itself doesn’t have restaurants you can pull right up to by boat, but on the north side, the Choctawhatchee Bay brings a few more options that we love to take advantage of. We managed to save room for the stracciatella-inspired soft serve and it was worth it. Every bite here is delicious! PS We didn’t order the nigiri flight this visit but I included a photo I took a few dinners back for reference because it’s so hard to decide when everything is good and this helps me to see it all before walking in — is anyone else like this??

A little perspective on seaweed season along 30A: A little perspective on seaweed season along 30A: Seaweed is a completely normal part of life along the Gulf Coast. Its presence is influenced by winds, tides, currents, and weather patterns, which means conditions can fluctuate not only day to day, but even from one beach access to the next. And there is a difference between June grass and sargassum. While it may not be the crystal-clear beach scene everyone hopes for when present, seaweed is a natural part of a healthy coastal ecosystem and doesn’t define the quality of your beach day. If you encounter seaweed at one access, take a walk, explore another stretch of shoreline, or simply give it a day. Conditions often change quickly. It’s also just the time of year. # A little seaweed is normal, temporary, and still leaves plenty of room for a wonderful day at the beach. #30a #florida

Happy happy birthday to @floridaboyadv aka Captain Happy happy birthday to @floridaboyadv aka Captain Hunter aka Hunter Ray, our main man, our favorite captain, the one with camo in a sea of pink who loves hunting and fishing and practicing turkey calls at all hours and times of year, who puts in the hours and the work and keeps us all in line.
