On My Radar: The Little Market

October 21, 2013
A recent Pinterest-spree landed me on the always-lovely Lauren Conrad’s website where Lauren announced a new shopping venture, The Little Market. Now this is not just any run-of-the-mill online shop full of goodies. Lauren and her team have traveled the world getting to know talented women in communities far and wide. Often disadvantaged in poverty-stricken parts of the world with little outlets or technology to support far-reaching trade, these women are working to create amazing handcrafted items in their home countries of Peru, Bolivia, India, Mexico and Nepal ranging from hand-printed wrapping paper, scarves, suitcases, candles and more. Unlike with many imported products, the artisans creating these items are directly and fairly compensated so that they can support themselves and their families. Lauren aims for The Little Market to be a wider-reaching platform for local goods and a place where a global community can come together to combat poverty, empower communities, and create social justice. Not to mention the items included so far in The Little Market are chic and personal with amazing stories behind them. With the holidays just around the corner, there are so many gift options to choose from. The gorgeous gold-printed wrapping paper is about to jump to the top of my shopping list and the apron? Adorable! Take a look at these and my other favorites from the shop then scroll all the way down for a video about The Little Market. Happy (and responsible!) shopping!
