Jami Ray - Girls Bedroom Update with Levtex Bedding

Turning 13 is a big milestone, and for my sweet Emery, it meant finally getting her own space—a room that’s all hers, without having to share with her little sister. Cue the girls bedroom update. We wanted to create a light, and soft environment that would help her stay organized, relaxed, and inspired as she navigates her teenage years.

Girls Bedroom – Light & Coastal

We started with the color palette, keeping things light and airy with shades of blue, blush, and cream. The first big purchase was an ivory canopy bed. This is a large piece of furniture that instantly made the room feel special and grown-up. I love the height it brings. (Here’s a similar style bed without the canopy). This bed is the focal point of the room, setting the tone for the soft and serene atmosphere we wanted to create.

Adding a Pop of Color

To complement the bed, we found the perfect pair of blush pink nightstands. I love this style nightstand, this traditional style and this nightstand too. These add a subtle pop of color and are the ideal spot for Emery’s reading lamp and her favorite bedtime book. I like that it has drawer for hiding things, but also appreciate the shelf for easy access without having to put things on top.

Our floors are grayish, so for more lightness, we opted for this large Oushak-style rug in blue, mint, and blush. The rug adds personality and pattern that ties together the colors in the room, making it feel cozy and harmonious. And yes, this is the rug you’ve probably seen everywhere, but it’s so good for high traffic areas and kids rooms. It’s fairly thin and you’ll probably want a rug pad underneath, but so easy to vacuum clean and for the price you really can’t beat it. This style rug is great, too.

Knowing that Emery would need a space to study, we added a desk and rolling chair set that doubles as a place for her to do homework and get ready in the mornings. The desk is sleek yet functional, offering enough storage for her school supplies while still looking chic.

Thoughtful Details

I was thrilled to partner with Levtex bedding to add this gorgeous cotton quilted blanket in blush. I can’t say enough good things about this Levtex cross stitched quilt. In fact, I loved it so much I ordered it another color. It’s classic and for Florida, it’s the perfect mix of cozy and light. Paired with Tommy Bahama pink palm sheets, Emery’s bed is girly but not over the top. The bedding is comfortable, but also adds to the room’s overall coastal vibe.

We also added this wedge pillow to close the small gap from the wall and keep things from falling down. Game changer for any kids room.

If you have a teen, you might know that organizing is a struggle at this stage. Any tools to help are essential. These little acrylic organizers are great for desk drawers and within the nightstand to separate items.

We added some special touches to personalize the space, like a bamboo mirror that I bought for $10 on Marketplace (similar style linked). A few extra details: a striped buoy on the nightstand, a shell frame for photos, and open shelving to display her shoes and accessories. These accents bring a bit of the coast into her room without being too kitschy..

Creating this space for Emery was such a special experience. It’s more than just a room; it’s her first real taste of independence, a place where I hope she can dream, study, and grow into the amazing young woman she’s becoming.
