I’ll be the first to admit I’m 5’6″ (on a good day) and I’ve never known the true struggle of shopping for tall girl jeans. But this back-to-school season, I got a front row seat. My daughter is heading into high school, and with her long legs and still increasing height, we set out on a mission to find jeans that actually fit—both in length and in style.
We even took our search to New York City, thinking the fashion capital might come through for us. Some stores were wins, others were definite misses. The biggest hurdle? Length. So many of the trendiest spots like PacSun, Edikted, and other favorite spots carry styles the girlies love, but they stop short. Literally.
So when we found brands that offer “long” or even “extra long” (looking at you, American Eagle!), it felt like striking gold. It turns out, finding tall girl jeans that aren’t awkwardly cropped or mid-calf capris is like unlocking a secret level of back-to-school prep and I’m here to share the styles we came home with. This isn’t an all-encompassing list, but a few specific style we bought for wearing right now.
