Below are my most frequently asked questions. If you have one I haven’t answered, email me and I’ll be sure to update this post as needed. 🙂
What are your favorite family-friendly restaurants on 30A?
Check out this 30A guide which includes our go-to restaurants with (and without!) kids.
What 30A babysitters do you recommend?
This is one of those questions that is a little tricky because we have both sides of the family nearby who are always willing to watch the girls, so we’ve never had to hire a sitter. In fact, if one set of grandparents babysits, we usually have to make arrangements for the other side to do the same so we keep a good balance – ha! BUT with that said, I do have a few sweet girls I know personally and can recommend. Just email me for their contact info jami (at) 30amama (dot) com.
Who takes your blog photos?
I sometimes work with professional photographers (see below for recs), but the majority of my photos are taken by Hunter with several fill-ins by my mom, Hunter’s mom and even Emery. Maybe she’s a little photographer in training!
What camera do you use?
Lately I’ve been using a Nikon D5600 with a 50mm lens., though an iPhone with proper editing works often.
How do you edit your photos?
Working on this post and will be sharing very soon!
Which photographers do you recommend on 30A?
I know and love a ton of photographers, but most recommend those that I’ve worked with before. Jackie Ward of Jacqueline Ward Images has taken so many of my fashion photos, I’ve lost count. I love my friend Jade Lott’s work and these ladies have all snapped adorable photos for me: Dear Wesleyann, Amanda Sause and Amanda Kidd (who took our engagement and wedding photos!). You really can’t go wrong with any of these gals.
What are your favorite purchases?
I love buying inexpensive sunglasses. It almost never fails that mine end up scratched, lost or even stolen by the beach waves (still mourning those losses!), so wearing a pair that is under $60 means I don’t have to stress about messing them up or losing them. This brand is always great and I have a ton that have lasted through the seasons. I also can’t believe how much I use this round straw bag.
Where do you shop for kids clothes?
If you have any favorite shops, I’m always looking cute new options. I most often find goodies at Old Navy, H&M, Target’s Cat & Jack line, Nordstrom and smaller shops or brands.
What lip color do you wear most often?
This matte shade has been my go-to lately, but I also like this luxe splurge and this drug store cheapie.
What self-tanner do you use?
I love getting a spray tan from Shelby Herron Beauty and in between those, I like to use the L’Oreal sublime products or St. Tropez.
Is blogging your full-time job?
In addition to blogging, I own a social media consulting and graphic design business. I love working on branding projects, publication design, social media content and blogging for brands. I also offer coaching for influencers on the rise to share advice and insight to launch or grow your influence through monetization, strong branding and industry insight. If you’re interested in hiring a consultant or designer to help grow your brand, email me for availability and rates.
How did you get into blogging?
I started sharing street style and celebrity style as an outlet to keep up with trends and local style. Eventually that evolved into sharing my personal style and life as a mom, business owner and beach lover. Combined with my background in PR and design, I’ve been able to work with amazing brands and build a community I love to engage with.
What does your husband do?
My husband Hunter is a charter fishing guide who owns and operates Florida Boy Adventures. He’s a local, born and raised in South Walton, who loves to fish and spend time on the water. If you’re looking for a fun activity while visiting 30A, call him for an inshore fishing trip to catch redfish, trout and other bay fish.
How did you meet your husband?
My family moved to the area when I was 17 and Hunter and I went to the same school. He says it was love at first sight when he saw me pull into the parking lot in my little blue Honda Accord, but I had no clue he existed and we didn’t connect at the time. Hunter was friends with my younger brothers and after one of them gave Hunter my phone number at a party (true story), we went on a few fun dates. We ended up dating other people, but bumped into each other on 30A a few times here and there. Fast forward to a heartbreaking time when Hunter’s younger brother passed away suddenly after an illness. We reconnected and were drawn to each other 100%. It was a bit of a whirlwind as we dropped the other people, met for drinks at Bud & Alley’s after years of no seeing each other and stayed until closing time on a Tuesday night catching up and talking non-stop. We were engaged 6 months later and married 5 months after that, so within a year from that second first date in Seaside, we were husband and wife. I guess the rest is history!
Where did you go to college?
Go Noles! I love my alma mater, Florida State University, where I earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree (Corporate & Public Communication). My favorite memories are football games, freshman nights in Landis Hall, my sweet Gamma Phi sorority sisters and eventually meeting my future brother-in-law (I introduced him to my sis!).
Any other burning questions? Let me know and I’ll be happy to include them here.
