What was arguably the hottest ticket in town during Miami Swim Week involved a line of stilleto-clad fashion girls waiting anxiously in the Florida humidity to arrive at the front of a line wrapped around the Versace Mansion and down Ocean Drive. Once inside, the mood at Casa Casuarina was drastically different than the South Beach setting just steps away. Mara Hoffman knows how to turn up the heat. The Resort 2016 line, inspired by a recent trip the designer took to Marrakech, managed to weave every exotic detail of the vision into a complete resort wardrobe that mixed her signature graphic prints with flora, fauna and rich texture in a range of eclectic shades. Models wearing high-contrast black and white woven numbers perched a carpet ride away from those clad in a sweet blush cactus print or a tropical palm leaf paired with red. Style staples included the high-waist bottom, halter tops, plunge necklines and plenty of flowy caftans. It was an inspiring mix of familiarity infused with an adventurous new attitude.
