If you’re anything like me and love a little online shopping, this is your chance for a MAJOR score. Read on for my tips on how to shop the NSale. I’m a total overthinker and like to visualize just what I want to add to my closet and how much that will cost. It’s not always possible to splurge on something without budgeting for it first. I do my best to find the highest quality for the best price I can afford. With that in mind, the #NSale is your new best friend. Before we go any further, mark your calendars for these important dates:
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Dates 2016
July 14th: Early Access Begins
July 22nd: Public Access Begins
August 7th: Final Day of Sale
So, what exactly is the #NSale?
By now, you have probably started hearing buzz around the blogosphere about Nordstrom’s Anniversary sale. It’s being touted as the biggest and best sale of the year and here’s why. Typically, when something goes on sale, the price is reduced as an effort to clear out old merchandise or items that didn’t sell. You might be able to rationalize buying a piece you don’t totally love or something that is almost out-of-season because the price is right. Unfortunately, it’s not always the best method for purchasing with longevity in mind. Wouldn’t it be amazing if the NEW new stuff was on sale at prices you couldn’t resist? Well, that’s exactly what you get with the #NSale. For a limited time, Nordstrom debuts brand new arrivals from designers you love at sale prices that simply can’t be beat. It truly is a thing of beauty for a fashion lover and I get so excited for this sale every year.
Because there are so many must-haves that make their way to the NSale, the traffic online is crazy! Items can sell out quickly and sizes go fast. In order to get the best selection and score every item on your shopping list, you’ll definitely want to mark your calendar and have your Nordstrom card in hand.
Here are a few ways to prep:
1. Get a Nordstrom Credit or Debit Card Today
Stop what you’re doing and get one of these pronto! With a Nordstrom Credit or Debit card, you get so many fun benefits. You can earn 2 points for every $1 you spend in stores and online at Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack and HauteLook, though the biggest perk is gaining early access to the #NSale – a whole week before it opens to non-cardholders. Save up and trade in points for Nordstrom Notes, which are like gift cards you can use on your next purchase. Every 2,000 points earns you a $20 Note and you get a $20 bonus Note when you spend $100 at Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack or HauteLook with your new Nordstrom card the day you are approved. Other fabulous benefits include triple point days, bonus point days, shopping parties and VIP access to sales, depending on your level, which are all detailed here in the benefits summary. If you sign up to be a Nordstrom Rewards member, you can earn 1 point for every $1 you spend in stores and online at Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack and HauteLook, whether you pay by cash, check, or your regular credit or debit card. Plus, if you sign up by July 10, you get an extra $10 to shop the #NSale with. Um, yes please! To be a Nordstrom Rewards member, you only have to sign up with your phone number, so no worries if you aren’t interested in getting a credit card. Get the full details and apply here.
2. Clean Out Your Closet
Take an honest look at what you have and toss out items that a) don’t fit b) you don’t like or c) are worn out and need replacing. You can always make a generous donation to your local Goodwill or local charity to give items a new home. For items that are still in good condition or are high-end labels, consider reselling at Poshmark or Ebay. Your clothes and accessories (even at discounted rates) can really add up and I think you’ll be surprised at what pocket money you can make from your own closet. Plus, this gives you plenty of room for new items to love. 🙂
3. Plan Ahead and Make a List
Write down the shoes, accessories or clothing items that you really want to add to your closet (maybe something you need to replace because you just sold or donated!). Maybe you want a new pair of white jeans to finish out the season or need to restock luxy beauty products. Maybe you’ve been saving up for a designer handbag or have been eyeing a fabulous new maxi dress. Look ahead at your calendar and see if you need to buy gifts for upcoming birthdays, anniversaries or special occasions. You can even knock out your Christmas shopping in July! 4. Set a Budget
Be realistic about what you can spend and stick to it. Following step #3 above will give you a good idea of what you want or need for the next few months then estimate prices from there. Keep in mind you might be better off spending three months worth of your shopping budget now and skimping later just to take advantage of the amazing sale prices. You just have to see what works best for you and your budget.
