30A Mama - Seaside Post Office at Christmas 2019

Spending the holidays on 30A is a dreamy mix of coastal charm and festive cheer. From twinkling lights reflecting off turquoise waters to local markets brimming with holiday spirit, there’s no shortage of magic. Find Christmas trees galore, each decorated in their neighborhood’s signature style, crafted cocktails Saint Nick would approve of and plenty of moments to savor with your friends and family. Here are some of my favorite must-do experiences to make your Christmas at the beach unforgettable.

Seasonal Happenings on 30A

30A Holiday Parade from Seaside to Seagrove

Kick off the season with the annual tree lighting ceremony and the only Christmas parade route directly on 30A. Watch festive golf carts and decorated cars roll by, enjoy carolers, see local businesses get in the spirit and feel the small-town magic that defines 30A’s holiday season.

Hometown Holiday Parade

November 22, 5pm

The Grand Boulevard Town Center transforms into a Coastal White Christmas with thousands of dazzling lights, a festive parade, and live entertainment. Enjoy faux snow, complimentary Santa photos, horse-drawn carriage rides, and breathtaking decorations while shopping, dining, and soaking in the holiday magic.

Seaside Holiday Market

December 7-8, 2024

This is one I’m personally so excited about because I will there participating with a tent pedaling my new wrapping paper. Along with my coastal prints, you can shop for unique gifts and handmade treasures at this charming market in the heart of Seaside. The market features local artisans, festive treats, and live music to get you in the holiday spirit.

Alys in Winter Wonderland

November 29, 2024

See the iconic butteries of Alys Beach adorned with holiday details and an afternoon of festive activities. The Alys Beach amphitheater comes to life with cookie decorating, letters to Santa, face  painting and even a photo op with the man himself leading up to the tree lighting.

Baytowne on Ice

Lace up your skates and glide into the holiday spirit. The Village of Baytowne Wharf has a seasonal ice skating rink, a Christmas tree with a sleigh for photos, and many holiday events. We love going skating every year and getting a taste of cold weather even just for an hour skate. This seasonal ice rink runs from through February 5th with varying hours each day so be sure to check the schedule.  it’s perfect for families or a festive date night.

Elfstravaganza in Seaside

Join the fun as Santa’s elves take over Seaside with playful activities, crafts, and holiday surprises. This family-friendly event is ideal for creating magical memories with little ones.

Santa Sightings

There are so many opportunities to meet Santa throughout the season. Here are a few on my radar:

  • Rosemary Beach – November 30, 8-10am, Breakfast with Santa ($20)
  • Grand Boulevard –  December 6 – December 28 (Fridays and Saturdays), 5-8pm, complimentary
  • Seaside – December 13-19, 4-6pm, complimentary

Festive Dining on 30A

Daytrader Miracle Bar Pop-Up (Seaside)

Step into a tropical winter wonderland at this seasonal pop-up bar featuring kitschy holiday cocktails, over-the-top decor, and a side of coastal charm. Sip on a “Reef and Rye” or “Santa’s Siesta” as you soak in the Christmas vibes by the Gulf.

The Bay Christmas Brunch

Enjoy panoramic bay views alongside a decadent holiday brunch. The seasonal menu often includes classic southern favorites with a festive twist, like sweet potato pancakes or spiced pecan pralines.

Seasonal Cocktails at Restaurants Along 30A

Though there might not be dedicated holiday menus, many of the bars and restaurants create Christmas themed cocktails and appetizers special for the season. I’ll be sure to share to share those specifics as they come out, but in years past they’ve been delicious and so fun to seek out.

Iconic Photo Ops

Seaside Post Office

Perhaps the most well-known photo ops along 30A is, of course, the iconic post office in Seaside, FL. This charming coastal spot gets a holiday makeover with classic greenery draped for a gorgeous Instagram-worthy moment. Be sure to see the giant Christmas trees decorated nearby in Central Square and in the plaza next to Bud & Alley’s.

Watercolor’s Cerulean Park tree

One of the more natural holiday scenes, this oversize tree in the heart of Watercolor’s Cerulean Park has minimal adornments and lets the natural beauty of the area speak for itself.

Rosemary Beach Town Hall & Post Office

Decked in garlands and classic holiday touches, the Rosemary Beach Town Hall and Post Office next door is picture-perfect. Snap a festive family photo here for your Christmas card.

30Avenue Giant Nutcracker Display

Take in the super size Nutcracker statues at 30Avenue, a whimsical addition to the shopping and dining district. They’re stunning day or night and the kids love them!

Alys Beach Holiday Décor

The white-washed architecture of Alys Beach is adorned with subtle, elegant lights and decor. There’s nothing quite like the minimal coastal style seen in Alys. I love to stroll the paths to see what creative classy details the homeowners choose. I always feel inspired here and take home an idea to implement myself. The architecture and scenery make for a magical stroll and beautiful photos.

Coastal Decor and Lights

Defuniak Springs Festival of Lights

We’ve gone to this almost every year for the past 20-something years and it’s still just as sweet and nostalgic as ever. Fun fact: Lake Defuniak is one of THE only perfectly round lakes in the world and at just over a mile around, it’s the perfect placee to walk and wander taking in the lights. The style is vintage and feels like childhood with characters in lights, classic christmas details and beautifully decorated homes around the circle. You can also drive through and while it’s a short trip from the beach, it’s 100% worth it!

Cruisin for Christmas Trees

Many areas along 30A feature decorated Christmas trees viewed from the comfort of your car. Turn on some festive tunes, make it a caravan and cruise the full 26 miles of 30A to take it all in from Dune Allen to Inlet Beach.

Carillon Beach Christmas Lights

This tucked-away neighborhood goes all out with festive light displays that reflect beautifully on the surrounding lakes. Perfect for an evening stroll.

Unique Experiences

Winter Fishing with Florida Boy Adventures

Of course, I have to recommend an inshore trip with Capt. Hunter. The 2 and 4-hour trips are great this time of year and you can even book a 2 hour sunset cruise for a gorgeous sail around the bay, then head to dinner afterward. Book here.

Holiday Yoga on the Beach

Wind down the holiday stress with a morning yoga session, offered al fresco on the pavilion at Seaside each week, accompanied by the soothing sound of the waves.

Shell-Ornament Making at The Hub

Create your own coastal-inspired ornaments at The Hub’s holiday craft sessions. Perfect for families or anyone wanting a souvenir from their time at the beach.

Sunset Bonfire with S’mores

Book a beach bonfire through a local vendor and enjoy marshmallows roasting under a starlit sky. Pair it with Christmas music for the ultimate holiday vibe.

Worth noting: If you’re looking to bundle up, Florida might be on the warm side, but December is a great time to explore the Emerald Coast’s natural beauty. Our average daily temperatures are typically in the 50s and 60s with a few chilly nights sprinkled in. It’s truly a wonderful to get out and discover all the things that make our little towns so special.

This guide proves you don’t need snow to have a magical holiday season. With twinkling lights, coastal charm, and plenty of festive events, 30A is the perfect place to make holiday memories you’ll cherish forever.
