To say we had a fabulous time this past weekend would be an understatement. Emery’s 6th birthday festivities involved a fun flamingle and tropical treasure hunt. (<– That’s what you get when you combine Emery’s love of flamingos, pirates and diamonds – ha!) We decided to throw a backyard party in order to skip carrying cake, decorations, etc to an off-site location and keep everything at home. We have a perfect dockside spot with room for activities and we enjoy any excuse to use our dock bar — it was an easy decision. With a “Let’s Flamingle” theme and tropical decor, our color palette immediately went to soft pinks, yellow and lush greens. We rented a bounce house/ water slide (they even had one with palm trees!) and used that as our main activity. To add a little more entertainment, we had a pirate friend arrive by boat and take the kids on a short treasure hunt around the yard ending with finding a big pink piñata. After smashing that to pieces, we sang “Happy Birthday” and passed out cute flamingo cupcakes, followed by plenty more bouncing and water sliding. Emery wore the cutest little yellow and pink off the shoulder swimsuit, which I would totally wear in my size. I’ve linked this and the ones her friends wore at the bottom. My handy husband built this pink wall, which he did an amazing job finishing and was such a fun accent for the party.
