I’m a little behind on this one, but I’m FINALLY sharing my first look from New York Fashion Week. My time in NYC was certainly a whirlwind, but what a fabulous time I had meeting new blogger friends, taking in runway shows, connecting with brands I love and soaking up the fast-paced buzz of city life. A series of action-packed days left lingering signs that confirmed I had more than reached my daily steps goal wearing heels (ouch!), but overall, it was really an incredible experience! People often say how crazy fashion week is and how tiring each day can be. “Off to another meeting.” It can easily sound like a complaint and is hard to imagine that attending such a big bucket list event would be anything less than amazing. I mean, it’s NYFW. The reality is that it’s hot (temps in New York were as high as in Florida) and it’s hectic and it can be draining, but far outweighing those details is the fact that you’re there, living in the moment, yet simultaneously becoming part of the history, which is pretty incredible. And that’s what you expect fashion week to be, right? Something au currant yet something to remember.
I was so excited to play the part of fashion girl for the week and to be in the same rooms as people in the fashion industry I admire and love to follow on social media. I was totally a fangirl a few times! Y’all would also laugh if you saw the color-coded spreadsheet I kept with my appointments and schedules for each day. Yes, I’m a total dork, but it was a lifesaver to have my little Google sheet with time, location, RSVP info, etc., since events were happening in various places around town and often overlapping. I spent a fair amount of time in Ubers and loved experiencing so many different neighborhoods of Manhattan. Several times, I would be looking down at my phone, navigating to the next show or posting something on Snapchat or Instagram, then would look up to realize I had stopped in my tracks to take in a picture-perfect scene right in front of me.
I’ll be sharing more about the events I attended in a separate post, but for now, here’s my ladylike look, complete with a tie neck detail I can’t get enough of.
