Good Eats at Nick’s

August 6, 2009
Nick’s on the Bay in Freeport is one of those places that you could easily drive past without realizing that the unpretentious concrete block building has some of the area’s best seafood inside. This little place has good old-fashioned dishes like crab claws, fried shrimp, oysters and more. No fuss, just good food. You might be surprised to hear some of the big names that have stopped in to try it out … someone by the name of John McCain for one. Ever heard of him?
For Mom’s birthday we stopped in to say hi to the Nick family and get our fill of their always-tasty seafood. Here she is with “the girls” when Jennifer was queen for the day.

This was the first of her dinner celebrations – there is still at least one to come!
Here are of few of my camera phone pics. The pictures are low quality but the food was delicious!

When you see this sign on Highway 20, stop and turn into Nick’s. Say hi to the family and don’t forget your appetite. You’ll probably need to loosen your belt on the way out.
